Application for Membership
in Lady Snow's Ice Castle

If you would like to become a member of Lady Snow's Ice Castle, please visit the Ice Castle, spend some time reading in the Library, read the Ice Castle Terms of Service, and then if you feel it is the place for you, fill out the following preliminary form. You will be contacted by Lady Snow or one of her staff. Please use your primary email address.

In an effort to reduce extra paperwork, hassle, and the number of declined applications and banned members, we offer you a few things to keep in mind prior to applying for membership:

This is a creative writing forum which focuses primarily on poetry. If you do not write poetry, and especially if you do not write at all, please don't apply -- you will not be accepted.
This is a private, invitation only, membership group. While everyone is welcome to read in the Library, only those invited to join may post. This application serves as your request for an invitation.
Applying does not guarantee acceptance. At present, we accept approximately 3 out of every 10 applicants.
Acceptance does not guarantee membership for any length of time. If you cause a problem, you will be banned promptly, and you will not be invited to return.
You do not have to be a great poet to join the Library. We look for many things in applicants, and current level of skill is only a small part.
You must have potential to improve, not just a little, but a great deal of potential, as well as the drive to realize that potential.
You must be willing to be a part of the community, which includes posting and replying on a regular basis.
You must be willing to follow the Terms of Service of the Ice Castle.
You must understand that in the Library, certain requirements exist regarding various aspects of membership, and you will be expected to comply with them promptly and without argument. This primarily refers to the usage of personal graphics on the site, which are strictly regulated on file size, file type, and overall size of the image; as well as its content which must comply with the Ice Castle terms of service.
You will keep personal issues out of the forums. If you have a problem with any member, you will notify one of the Ice Castle staff regarding it, and it will be handled. If you post anything regarding anyone, member or no, which we find to be inappropriate, inflamatory, or antagonistic, the post will be removed, and you will be banned pending investigation.
If a post involves a member of the Ice Castle staff, you will be banned immediately, and your membership revoked.
The Ice Castle is a strong, friendly, and supportive community, and if you cannot contribute to that, do not fill out this application. There are thousands of poetry forums on the Internet that thrive on chaos and personal conflict. This is not and will never be one of them.

Our rules all have reasons, and we expect them to be followed.
If you cannot follow them, do not apply.
If you do not write, do not apply.
If you cannot get along with others, do not apply.

If you've never been in a poetry forum, let us know. You can include addresses for other types of forums if you belong to a non-poetry one.

Please provide a representative selection of your writing for Lady Snow's perusal.
Include one writing sample per box, preferably poetry. If you for some reason cannot provide 5 samples, please offer an explanation in the first box without one, and leave any remaining ones with the default text intact. Please note that if you are unable to offer 5 samples, you will probably not be accepted. There are many forums for brand new writers, but this is not one of them.

If you were referred to the Library by someone, please tell us who, here. If you saw our ad, or found a link on a website, let us know where. We like to thank referrers personally. If you just surfed on in, congratulations on finding us, and let us know that, too.

The Library has a voice posting feature, and the Castle Amphitheater is a voice enabled poetry reading room. Let us know if you'll be able to participate in the voice posting and audio chat. Usage requires Windows 95 or 98 (NT has not been tested by any members yet), a 4.0 or higher version of Netscape, IE, or AOL, and a sound card that supports both playback and recording (most do). Of course, you also need a microphone and speakers.
Will you be able to participate? (yes or no) -- Note: these are not required for acceptance, answering this question simply lets us know whether or not to create a password for you to participate in the Amphitheater.



Finally, please read the following statement and type "yes" to show your acceptance of it.

" I have read the Ice Castle Terms of Service and agree to them, and understand that Ice Castle Members are required to participate in the Library on a regular basis."

This is the first thing we look at. if it does not say yes, your application is deleted immediately.
