White Tulips

Painting of White Tulips, courtesy of Jean Overgaard, http://welcome.to/JeansArtWhite Tulips courtesy of Jean Overgaard
White tulips in cellophane
Surprised beautiful face
Sparkling blue eyes
Sweetly flushed cheeks
Yellow envelope in his hand
Unbelievably crushed sad face
Tears from clouded blue eyes
Against my shoulder does she cry
Oh Stephan you should
Have just told her
Used your voice
Words on paper can
Be so empty and cruel
Typed, not even handwritten,
Left unsigned
Leaves her wondering
What she's done wrong
Some man you'll turn out to be
If you can not see
The tears she hides
With such a brillant grace
This child of mine
Whose pain
I wish I could
Erase.
